OFFICIAL CALL
Party Canvass of New Kent County Committee of the Republican Party
of Virginia
As Chair of the New Kent County Committee of the Republican Party of
Virginia, and pursuant to the Plan of Organization and as
recommended and directed by the committee, I, Jane Ladd, do hereby
issue this call for a Party Canvass to be held at The Historic
Courthouse, 12003 New Kent Highway, New Kent, Va. 23124, starting at
5:00PM till 8:00PM local time on March 18, 2013 for the following
purpose:
Electing up to 235 Delegates and an equal number of Alternates to
the Republican Party of Virginia's State Convention, to be held on
Friday May 17th and Saturday May 18th, 2013 at the Richmond Coliseum
located at 601 East Leigh Street, Richmond, Virginia beginning at
2:00 PM local time on Friday May 17th (No voting for candidates for
the office of Governor, Lt. Governor or Attorney General will be
conducted prior to 12:00 PM local time on Saturday May 18th, 2013)
for the purposes of nominating a Republican candidate for Governor,
Lt. Governor, and Attorney General. Each unit is entitled to one
(1) Delegate Vote per 250 Republican votes for Governor and
President at their last election, so that New Kent County is
entitled to 47 Delegate Votes:
Qualifications for Participation
All legal and qualified voters of New Kent County under the laws of
the Commonwealth of Virginia, regardless of race, religion, national
origin or sex, who are in accord with the principles of the
Republican Party and who, if requested, express in open meeting
either orally or in writing as may be required, their intent to
support all of its nominees for public office in the ensuing
election, may participate as members of the Republican Party of
Virginia in its mass meetings, party canvasses, conventions or
primaries encompassing their respective election districts.
Filing Requirements
Candidates for election as a Delegate or Alternate Delegate at said
canvass must file a written statement of candidacy, on an official
prefiling form, with Chair Jane S. Ladd, 8325 Airport Road, Quinton,
Virginia, 23141. Prefiling forms may be obtained at
www.rpv.org or by calling
804-241-6160. Completed forms must be received, by mail or
in person, at the above address not later than 5:00 PM on March 4,
2013. Alternately, Prefiling Forms may be mailed to NKRP, P.O. Box
831, Quinton, Virginia 23141. Postmarks shall not govern. If not
more than the number of persons to be elected shall file as a
candidate for Delegate or Alternate Delegate, then such properly
filed persons shall be deemed elected, and no canvass will be held.
There will be no registration fee to participate in this canvass.
There is a $35.00 voluntary registration fee for Delegates and
Alternate Delegates to the State Convention.
Rules for the conduct of the canvass shall be approved by the New
Kent Republican Committee.
