Letitia Christian Tyler - First Lady

Letitia Christian Tyler was born at Cedar Grove Plantation in New Kent County.  On March 29, 1813 she married John Tyler and followed her husband during his political years, even after she crippled in 1839.  She died on September 10, 1842 in the White House and was buried at Cedar Grove in a small family cemetery.
