September 2 New Kent StageHands Auditions for "The Spider"  7 pm at the New Kent Middle School Auditorium.  In preparation for the  November 13, 14, 15, 20, 21 production of "The Spider", a murder mystery by Oursler and Brentano.

September 3 DMV at New Kent Courthouse  8 am to 4 pm. The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles will bring their offices to the parking lot of the historic New Kent Courthouse for all DMV transactions including, Driver's licenses and ID cards, road and knowledge tests, and pictures taken.  Customers can order disabled parking placards or plates, get vehicle titles, license plates and decals.

September 3 Grand Re-Opening of Maidstone at New Kent Courthouse 6 pm Open houses at Active Life, the expanded Stay & Play and the new model homes will be open as well.  There will be an official ribbon cutting ceremony at the newly expanded Stay & Play with a bounce house and popcorn!  This event is to get the word out that businesses are up and running and several more are in negotiations to move into the existing empty space of Maidstone.

October 17, 18  History Lands at Cumberland Plantation  10 am to 5 pm each day.  Sponsored by the New Kent Historical Society. The event will be held on the grounds of Cumberland Plantation, and include exhibits of the Civil War period, food and entertainment. October 29, 30, 31 and November 2, 3, 6, 7 "Les Misérables" featuring American students from New Kent High School and New Kent Middle School and British students from Astor College and Duke of York Royal Military School in Kent, England.  The musical based on the early 19th century novel Les Misérables by French poet and novelist Victor Hugo, has music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, original French lyrics by Alain Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, with an English-language libretto by Herbert Kretzmer.  Performances at 7 pm each day plus a 1 pm matinee.  Oct 29, 30, 31 and Nov 2, 3 performances will be British and American Casts.
