July 3 New Kent Rotary Evening at the Races Enjoy the Independence Day fireworks, dinner and festivities.  Tickets are available from any New Kent Rotary Member.

July 3, 4 Fireworks and Music at Colonial Downs  Post time at New Kent: 6 pm.

July 4 Courtyard Picnic at the Winery 2 to 5 pm at the New Kent Winery in Talleysville.  Jazz, Wine, and Food (Bring your own or order a picnic lunch in advance)      

July 11 Virginia Derby 5K Run 8:30 am at the  New Kent Winery in Talleysville. $15 registration includes a commemorative T-shirt, wine tasting, and admission to the Virginia Derby on July 18.  Call 804-966-7223 for more information.

July 18 $750,000 Virginia Derby at Colonial Downs. See thoroughbred racing's top three year old turf horses compete in Virginia's richest annual horse race. Enjoy the festive day in the Trackside Party Zone, in the first turn Picnic area, in reserved grandstand seats (under cover), in an air conditioned dining room or simply in our large general admission area! The New Kent Branch of the Heritage Public Library is open at 6125D Chesapeake Circle at Rt. 155 and I-64. (near Dairy Queen)  

Bay Transit Bus Service for New Kent and Charles City 6 am to 6 pm.  Curb-to-Curb service for all NK and CC residents.  Fares are $1 each way anywhere in Charles City or New Kent. Call 966-7650 in advance to schedule a ride.

New Kent Winery in Talleysville is now open from 10 am to 6 pm on Tuesdays through Sundays.  (Closed on Mondays) 6 varieties of New Kent Wine are available for taste and sale.
